Bonnet (2012) details the several baptisteries that succeeded one another in this cathedral, starting with the first one, in the site corresponding to the extension of the south sacristy of the present cathedral building; the date of the first baptistery is suggested for the secon half of the 4th century. This same source reports on fifty years of excavations and notes a second baptistery in the 5th century, a third in the 6th, a fourth between the 6th and 7th centuries, and a last one between the 7th and the 8th centuries.
