No entry for Slinforld found in the Domesday Survey. Harrison (1920), who does not mention a font in this church, writes: "The original church was built about 1230 by Bishop Ralph 11. of Chichester". The Sussex Parish Churches site [www.sussexparishchurches.org/content/view/560/33/] [accessed 4 February 2013] notes: "Font: Plain and octagonal. It looks modern, though it has been called C14". There are two objects in this church: a modern stone font consisting of an octagonal basin with cusped quatrefoils on the sides, raised on a moulded octagonal pedestal base; its round wooden cover is also modern. The other object is a stone fragment of a a square vessel of some sort; if it is at all liturgical, its proportions and the lack of drain suggest a holy-water stoup.
