According to the Parish site [www.parrocchiatrebbo.it/storia.html] and [www.parrocchiatrebbo.it/images/La%20Chiesa%20di%20San%20Giovanni%20..pdf] [accessed 2 February 2013], by the end of the 14th century there was a church building here, but was located closer to the river, and was moved to the present site at the end of the 16thC; that church, had a baptismal font and there is a register of baptisms in the parrochial archives. At the time of the transfer in the late 16th century the old baptismal font was lost [="È certo che fin dal 1300 esisteva una chiesa del Trebbo ma più vicina al fiume dove vi era il passo della Barca; questa Chiesa fu trasportata via dalle acque sul finire del secolo XVI ciò si rileva dal Calindri e da una nota dei Curati del Trebbo, che si conserva nell’Archivio Arcivescovile di Bologna. [...] The present baptismal font is described and illustrated in this same source as an early-20th century marble font consisting of a shallow round basin with moulded sides, raised on a round slender shaft decorated with a blank shield, and a round-to-square lower base. The cover of this modern font has a sculpture of the Baptism of Christ as finial. [NB: we have no information on the whereabouts of the earlier fonts of this church].
