Font Notes:
The present font, located by the entranceway, is Victorian, octagonal with traceried panels and adorned with crosses and quatrefoils on the sides; probably from the 1871 restoration reported in Harrison (1920), but painted later in the next century. The church itself is 15th-century, although an earlier church existed here in the 12th century. [NB: we have no information on the font of the medieval church here]. [NB: the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, also in East Grinstead is modern, and it has a modern font and stoup [cf. www.stmaryeastgrinstead.co.uk/guide/index.htm] [accessed 17 January 2013].
