Dunkin (1875) notes: "The church, or rectory of Glynde, was given in the twelfth century, to the monks of the abbey of Bec, in Normandy, by William de Mallinges [...] In the taxation of Pope Nicholas, is in fact set down as belonging to the priory of Okeburn". Harrison (1920) notes that the present church was built in the 1760s and its font was made of marble in the 18th century. The earlier medieval church is said to have existed by the side of the site of the present one. [NB: we have no information on the font of the original church here].
