Illustrated in Hildebrand (1907) [NB: Hildebrand's spelling, "Fröstuna", may be wrong or obsolete]. Described and illustrated in the Statens Historiska Museum of Stockholm inventory files as a baptismal font made of sandstone and dated probably in the 12th century; the SHM file notes a similarity of style to some Norman fonts, for instance those at "Chadessley Corbett" [i.e., Chaddesley Corbett (Worcs.)] and Eardisley (Herefs.) [NB: the Museum notes are dated 1917 and signed "J.R." -- probably Johnnny Roosval]; the file reports it as disused in the churchyard in the mid 19th century; added to the SHM in 1917 (?), where it still is [August 2012]. Noted and illustrated in Roosval (1917), (1918). On-site notes: at the time of the BSI visit the Frustuna font was located in a medieval rural church interior recreated at the SHM using artifacts from several old churches; the fonts is described in the SHM files as made of sandstone, but the hemispherical basin stone resembles a semi-coarse granit of reddish colour, whereas the conical pedestal base is a greyish sandstone; the base has a thick rope-moulding atop, damaged at parts. [NB: Roosval [cf. supra] was familiar with Bond's 1908 work on English fonts, and refers to it often in his writings on fonts]. The present font in use in this church is modern, in the general style of a medieval font: a cylindrical basin decorating with a running acanthus vine all around, raised on a round pedestal base with torsade pattern on it, and a round-to-hexagonal lower base decorated with round arches all around, and motifs at the angles. No cover present.
