There is an entry for this Singleton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/XX0000/singleton-and-little-singleton/] [accessed 25 August 2019]; the entry includes several dozen places in it, one of which is Singleton; the entry reports three churches in it. An entry in The Atlantic Monthly (vol. 69, March 1892, p. 294) notes: "All that we know is that in an old deed of 1358-59 the 'chapelle of Saint Marye in Syngleton' is mentioned as being granted by the Duke of Lancaster to a certain 'John de Estwitton, hermit'". The National Heritage List [http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1072038] [accessed 18 September 2012] notes the present church: "Church, 1861 by E.G. Paley for Thomas Miller of Singleton Lodge", but mentions no font in it. This church replaced an earlier one [medieval?] demolished in 1859. The entry for the new church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SD3850438372] mentions no font in it.
