Harrison (1920) notes a small Norman window in the south wall of the nave in this mostly Early English church building, but mentions no font in it. The Victoria County History (Sussex, vol. 4, 1953) notes: "Savaric fitz Cane gave the church of Mid Lavant to Lewes Priory in the early 12th century, and the church was among those confirmed to the priory in the charter of Bishop Ralph dated 1121. [...] The nave is of the 12th century, the chancel was added or rebuilt in the 13th [...] The font and other fittings are modern." The VCH 1938 interior plan shows the modern font located in the nave, southwest side. This modern font is a plain octagonal one. [NB: we have no information on the font of the 12th-century church here].
