The entry for this church in IGESPAR [www.igespar.pt/pt/patrimonio/pesquisa/geral/patrimonioimovel/detail/72926/] [accessed 8 June 2012] notes that the original fabric of the church is pre-Romanesque, probably 11th-century, and a Romanesque baptismal font with an interesting decoration [= "No interior [...] destaca-se a presença de uma pia baptismal românica , com interessante decoração"]. The entry for this church in SIPA [IPA.00006853] [www.monumentos.pt/Site/APP_PagesUser/SIPA.aspx?id=6853] [accessed 10 June 2017] reports: "No interior tem coro-alto, tendo no lado do Evangelho, pia batismal quinhentista, decorada com alto friso de flores-de-lis interligadas e, inferiormente, gomada". The font consists of a round basin of rather shallow proportions, the sides decorated with a large zigzag pattern that encloses fleurs de lis-like motifs arranged alternately with its inverted versions; the lower edge of the basin is a flat moulding; the underbowl is slightly curved, with protruding spaced ribs; it is raised on a pedestal of two parts; the upper section is round and may be part of the basin block; the lower part is also circular except at the very bottom where it turns to square. The basin is damaged at various spots, and the original upper rim may have been reduced or removed; the large indentation cut out of the side was probably made for the lock of an earlier cover. Wooden cover, flat and round, with side metal clasp that locks onto the side of the basin.
