Holy-water stoup consisting of a roughly hemispherical basin decorated with a band of two-strand interlace with ball, bead or pellet inserts, resembling a chain of ball-in-socket motif, beyween two round mouldings; the lower side and underbowl are decorated with a ribbed pattern capped with round arch-heads all around; part of a cylindrical stem is still attached below, this part adorned with a roll moulding. The obejct is of good design and workmanship, falling well within known designs of the 13th and 14th periods in the area. The stoup is now wall-mounted, possibly into a recess originally occupied by an earlier stoup, but may originally have been free-standing, the basin raised on a slender round pedestal base of which only a small portion remains, attached to the basin underbowl.
