Baptismal font (?) consisting of a roughly hemispherical basin decorated with a ribbed pattern, the ribs capped with round arch-heads, raised on a later baluster-shaped pedestal base; the top of the pedestal base, which is narrow and moulded, appears to be part of the original basin block, but the stem is a much later piece; the upper rim has been reinfiorced with a metal strap. The basin is very weathered probably from a long exposure to the elements in the past. Curious font cover of dome-shape design, consisting of a metal frame around what appears to be a stone [or is it wood?] surface decorated with scalloped pattern with bands of nail-head; large orb-and-Latin cross finial; date unknown. The church itself is said to be documented since 1139. It is quite possible that the font was altered in the 17th-century reforms to the church, as the pedestal base conforms to the designs of the period. [NB: we have no information on the original font of this church] [cf. Index entry for Valdeperes No. 2 for a medieval holy-water stoup in this church].
