No individual entry found for Aberford in the Domesday survey. The Church Builder (issue no. 3, 1862 : 106) reports on the re-building of "St. Richard's" under the architect A. Salvin, with exception of "its fine old Norman tower, which has been preserved [...] Near this window is the beautiful Caen stone font, with its Gothic canopied cover of oak, also placed there as a memorial to Mrs. Landon". [NB: we have no information on the earlier font here, probably discarded at the time of the restoration or earlier]. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SE4328837153] reports: "Parish church. 1861 rebuilding of C12 church, retaining a little of the original masonry and copying the former tower"; there is no mention of a font in it.
