Kelly's Directory of 1898 [quoted in www.stondon.net/history.php] [accessed 11 May 2012] notes: "The church of All Saints was re-erected in 1857 [...] of the old church, a Late Norman structure, there remain the shaft of Norman piscine, c. 1150; the font [...]" The Victoria County History (Bedford, vol. 2, 1908) notes: "In 1261 Richard le Breton confirmed the advowson of the church of Upper Stondon to Merton Priory. [...] The church of All Saints was rebuilt in 1857 [...] The south doorway, which dates from the fourteenth century, is the only relic of the former church." There is no mention of a font in the VCH entry for this parish. The entry for this church in the English Heritage site [http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1312346] [accessed 11 May 2012] reports: "Church [...] Retains octagonal font, probably [...] C13."
