The Victoria County History (Bedford, vol. 2, 1908) notes: "Nigel son of Erfast gave the monks of Lanthony the church of Henlow [before 1199] [...] In the twelfth century the church consisted of a chancel and aisleless nave, the latter being shorter than at present. [...] In modern times a good deal of repair and alteration has been carried out [...] there are no old fittings. The font, under the tower, is also modern." The 19th-century font is located beneath the tower arch. [NB: we have no information on the medieval font(s) of this church].
