Suckling (1846-1848) notes that two churches are recorded in this parish in the Domesday Survey of 1086, and adds: "The two churches which formerly existed in Worlingham were appropriated to the Convent of Butley. They were dedicated respectively to All Saints and St. Peter. [...] The Prior presented to the church of All Saints soon after the year 1300; so that, probably, the appropriation of both benefices was effected about the same time. [...] The church of All Saints is now the only parochial church." Suckling (ibid.) does not mention a font in either of the churches here. [cf. Index entry for Worlingham Parva for Worlingham St. Peter's]. The baptismal font here consists of an octagonal basin with deeply-carved sides decorated with four gardant lions and four demi-figures of angels holding shields alternating all around; the shields appear almost totally blank now but there are traces of relief that hint at coats or arms or emblems on them originally; the inner side of the frames containing the lions are decorated with tiny square flowers; the underbowl has two rows of winged cherub heads [the usual is one row with floral motifs below; the lower row appears to be part of the base block; the upper row is definitely part of the basin block] decorating the chamfer; the pedestal base is octagonal-to-square, with the common arrangement of four sejant-gardant lions alternating with four buttresses at the angles; raised on a two-step plinth, the upper step decorated with quatrefoil motifs on the sides. Tall octagonal pyramidal cover with crocketed arrises and turned finial.
