There are two entries for this Willingham in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/TM4586/willingham/] [accessed 5 July 2016], one of which mentions a churcu and church lands in it. Suckling (1846-1848) notes: "We learn from Domesday Book that there was a church in Willingham, at the time of its compilation [i.e., 1086] [...] It was dedicated to St. Mary, [...] The church was in use till after the year 1500 [...] in a will dated 1529, a legacy is left to the reparation of the parish church of Willingham; so that it would seem to have fallen into decay about that period. [...] Its remains are now scarcely visible." The Heritage Gateway entry for this site [www.heritagegateway.org.uk] [accessed 29 February 2012] reports: "Site of Church of St Mary. 1951: All that remains of this church is some rubble (bits of brick etc) around the roots of a tree" [reference cited in this source is: "Unpublished document: OS. OS Card. OS, card TM48NW2, 1951 (SSF50032)']
