Baptismal font made of Beerstone (?), consisting of an octagonal basin with vertical sides decorated with panels between pronounced mouldings; the side panels contain tracery alternating with heraldic devices related to the Chudleigh family [perhaps celebrating the 1476 marriage of Sir James Chudleigh and Margaret Stourton]; the underbowl chamfer includes a broad scotia and floral motifs below; the pedestal base is octagonal, with trefoiled windows on the sides; graded mouldings on the also octagonal lower base. The wooden cover is a low octagonal dome decorated with an inscription and topped with an avian finial; modern. The font appears to have been partially re-tooled, and the whole block of the underbowl may be re-carved or a complete replacement. The whole stands on an octagonal plinth made of reddish granite.
