The font here is documented in an 1805 watercolour by John Buckler (1770-1851). The Victoria County History (Wiltshire, vol. 15, 1995) notes: "The chapel recorded at Milston in 1274 had by 1299 become a parish church served by a rector. [...] It was consecrated in 1413. [...] A lancet window of the late 13th century survives in the south wall of the chancel. [,,,] A 13th-century bell hangs in the bellcot. [...] Registrations of [...] baptisms from 1541"; there is no mention of font in the VCH entry for this parish. The British Listed Buildings database [www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-321506-church-of-st-mary-milston] [accessed 22 February 2012] reports: "Bulbous bowl on short octagonal shaft and leaf carved base, probably C13.
