Baptismal font made of bronze consisting of a roughly cylindrical basin raised on a cylindrical pedestal base and a circular lower base that stands on four seated putti; the domed-shaped cover is also of bronze and by the same artist. There are six biblical scenes represented on the basin and cover; the 12 Apostles appear on the stem sides in two rows; a cartouche on the lid with the St. Martin indicates the original church where this font came from, Martini-Kirche, in Hildesheim. The cover bracket has a representation of the Trinity. An account of the font and its inscriptions is given in the Deutschen Inschriften Online Projekt [www.inschriften.net/hildesheim/inschrift/nr/di058-0642.html] [accessed 21 February 2012].
