The present baptismal font in the church of the monastery is made of granite, and consists of an octagonal basin with short vertical sides and tall underbowl, raised on an octagonal pedestal base; the font is made of two blocks, the upper one including a stump that matches exactly the size and shape of the stem; the font is totally plain and may be quite late. A mention of another font in this church ca. 1927 was made in a Boletim of the DGEMN [bib. ref. not available]: "A pia baptismal, de mármore, que esteve exposta a todos os perigos do fogo e da derrocada, em lugar vizinho da porta principal, não sofreu qualquer dano." This 'marble font' located near the main entranceway is no longer in the church and we have found no information on its date and whereabouts. [NB: the original monastery was founded in the 10th century, with a major re-building in the 13th century, but we have no information on the medieval font of its church].
