Baptismal font (or is it a large stoup?) consisting of a plain, roughly hemispherical basin decorated with a very large rope moulding below the underbowl, and raised on a polygonal pedestal base which may be a later addition. Joost Limburg [www.romanicoportugal.org] remarks to BSI (email of 11 September 2011) on the church here: " It's roots are old, below the chancel are the remains of the foundations of a pre-Romanesque building. Of the Romanesque period only an small part of the N and S walls of the chancel are left. This was the 'igreja paroquial' [parish church] before the Sé was built in the 15th century."
