Church Notes: the parish church is Iglesia de San Martín el Real is 16th- or 17th-century, so the 'font' must have belonged to a different and earlier church -- the church does have an old and quaint holy-water stoup, but it is probably of the date of the church
Font Notes:
Tub-shaped object resembling an old baptismal, now being used as planter in a private residence near the later church; there is damage around the upper rim consistent with the type breakage due to old cover anchors; a large side whole would suggest it has been used as trough in the past. We have no certainty that this ever was a font. The church is of the 16th century or later, but does have a few medieval corbels which may have belonged originally to a disappeared nearby church; did the 'font' come from the same source? The 'font' is located in the long south porch of the church, protected behind railings and under roof cover.
