The Victoria County History (Wiltshire, vol. 10, 1975) notes: "Although not explicitly mentioned until 1258, presentations were made to Woodborough church at least in the reign of Richard I [1189-1199] [...] The 12th-century church consisted of nave and chancel. [...] In 1850 the chancel was rebuilt [...] A new nave and aisle were built in 1861"; there is no mention of a font in the VCH entry for this parish. The British Listed Buildings database [www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-311839-church-of-st-mary-magdalen-woodborough] [accessed 25 January 2012] reports: "Font, by south door, limestone, octagonal, with quatrefoil panels." [NB: we assume the font now in the church is modern; we have no information on the font from the medieval church]
