There is a 1807 watercolour of this font by John Buckler (1770-1851). The Victoria County History (Wiltshire, vol. 10, 1975) notes: "The church of St. James, so dedicated by 1442, [...] was built in the 13th century with chancel and nave. In the 14th century the nave was rebuilt and a south porch added, [...] and in the 15th century the tower was built." There is no mention of a font in the VCH entry for this parish.
