The Victoria County History (Wiltshire, vol. 7, 1953) notes: "The advowson of the church of Great Chalfield has always been annexed to the manor. The first recorded institutions took place in 1316, when it was called a chapel. [...] The church of All Saints, Great Chalfield, dates from the early 14th century [...] Of the original building only part of the nave remains." There is no mention of a font in the VCH entry.
