The Victoria County History (Wiltshire, vol. 6, 1962) notes: "One of the most important of the medieval churches was St. Michael's, South Street, which existed in 1200, for in that year Henry, son of Gospatrick of Wilton, who was born at Wilton, was baptized in it. [...] In the course of the 16th century the church fell into decay and had disappeared altogether by the time of the first Pembroke Survey; in this survey it was stated that one of the burgesses of Wilton had built a barn near the former site of the church. [...] It was situated on the south side of South Street towards Bull Bridge, [...] but its total ruin has obliterated all memory or record of its actual appearance.." [NB: we have no information on the font of this church].
