Font Notes:
[cf. Index entry for Hanzinne No. 1 for the fragments of the old Namurois original font of this church] The present font is a very crude and probably composite object dated 1501-1600 in the BALaT database [KIK-IRPA, Brussels (Belgium), cliché M220373]; there appear to be two halfs that were probably unrelataed originally; the upper half, which appears to have a matching design, consists of an octagonal basin with four human heads arranged on its sides at 90-degree angles; at the lower end of the basin is a moulding; the stem is octagonal and plain; the splaying lower base is also octagonal; the previous three pieces are mounted on a second octagonal stem and a moulded square lower base that appear to have no relationship to the upper elements, making the whole an awkward object of very crude carving. An incongruous lid resembling that of a cooking pot serves as cover.
