There is an entry for this Bradfield [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SU6072/bradfield/] [accessed 28 April 2015], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The Victoria County History (Berkshire, vol. 3, 1923) notes: "The first mention of the church at Bradfield occurs in the foundation charter of Dudley Priory [...] which is previous to 1161 [...] With the exception of the early 14th-century north arcade of the nave, the west, and part of the north wall of the north aisle, and the 16th-century tower, the church was entirely rebuilt in the 'Early English' style in 1847–8"; there is no mention of a font in the VCH entry, but it further notes that the baptismal registers start in 1539. The present font is modern, probably of the mid-19th century re-building, a tapering square basin on a Victorian marble columnr base. [NB: we have no information on the medieval font here].
