Baptismal font displayed in the Musée d'Aquitaine, Bordeaux with date in the 18th century; oval basin with two inner wells and three smaller wells for the holy oils, etc., of a design common in France since the late-16th century. The museum label records its origin in the chapel of the ancient hospice for abandoned children, and notes that "up until the French Revolution, all abandoned children were automatically baptised as son as they arrived at the hospital" [in English, on the label] -- [the font was deposited in the museum by the CHU [Centre hospitalier universitaire]]
