There is an entry for Shaw [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SU4768/shaw/] [accessed 20 May 2015], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The Victoria County History (Berkshire, vol. 4, 1924) notes: "In 1080 the king confirmed a grant of the tithes of Shaw by Hugh son of Baldric to the abbey of Préaux. [...] The font has an ancient round bowl with tapering sides and is probably of 13th-century date." Noted and illustrated in the CRSBI (2015): "The present church, by J.Hansom, dates from 1840-42. The plain font is all that survives from the previous building. [...] W[est] end of nave, standing on a modern base. Tub shaped and plain except for a roll on the rim and a double roll at the foot of the bowl." The basin is damaged, with a through crack all around; repaired.
