The Victoria County History (Bedford, vol. 3, 1912) notes: "The church of St. Mary the Virgin [...] It is a beautiful and dignified building, begun about 1330 [...] The church was repaired in 1862"; there is no mention of a font in the VCH. The Bedford Council site [www.bedfordshire.go.uk] [accessed 18 October 2011] notes: "the medieval font was replaced by a modern one in 1828, the roof was re-covered in 1832-1833 and yet another new font provided in 1858". [NB: we have no information on the medieval font here].
