There are six entries for Peatling [variant spelling] [known today as Peatling Magna and Peatling Parva] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/XX0000/peatling/] [accessed 19 August 2015], one of which mentions a priest, though not a church in it, though there probably was one here. A font here is described in Ecclesiastica [http://ecclesiastica.co.uk/Peatling-Parva---St-Andrews---Leicestershire.php] [accessed 19 September 2011] as a very simple stone font with a wooden lid. The same source notes the church building: "Original Church 13th century restored and extended on 1876 by the Architect R Kinle". The font consists of a practically cylindrical basin on a wider round base; there are new-stone insert repairs at the upper rim, where the olf metal staples of the cover would have been. The present cover is round and flat, with metal decoration and ring handle; appears modern.
