There are three entries for Pavenham [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SP9855/pavenham/] [accessed 11 September 2015], none of which mention cleric or church in it. The Victoria County History (Bedford, vol. 3, 1912) notes: "Pavenham appears as a chapelry attached to Felmersham in 1205 [...] until 1859, when it was separated [...] The only 13th-century work remaining is the external doorway of the south porch [...] The font is modern and is under the nave arcade on the east side of the middle bay." The VCH entry reports baptism registers here start in 1561. [NB: we have no information on the earlier font of this church]. The Benefice web site [www.allsaintsmiltonernest.org.uk/pav-history.html] [accessed 14 September 2011] notes and illustrates "A font of nineteenth century origin is situated under the nave arcade on the east side of the middle bay." This modern font consists of an octagonal basin raised on a pedestal base of the same shape, on a square plinth; both basin and base are decorated with tracery patterns.
