Re-cycled capital made of marble or alabaster, of unknown origin; the capital is octagonal at the top with three parallel mouldings, and round at the bottom with a single but thicker torus; in between are scenes related to the childhood of Christ, including the adoration of the Magi, the adoration of the shepherds and probably an Annunciation; it stands on a round column of reddish stone decorated with torsade pattern. The Seu de Xàtiva web site [www.seudexativa.org/Eventos_Especiales/Luz de las imagenes 2007/guia/guia (val).htm] [accessed 29 August 2011] gives the date of the capital as 13th-century, which matches the date of the church itself (1265); there is however no other such capital in the church. We have no information on its origin or the date when it was converted into a holy-water stoup.
