There is an entry for Bedhampton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SU7006/bedhampton/] [accessed 20 June 2018]; it mentions a church in it. The Victoria County History (Hampshire, vol. 3, 1908) notes: "In 1086 there was a church in Bedhampton [...] The chancel arch, c. 1140, is the oldest piece of architectural detail remaining, and the south and west walls of the nave may be in part of the same date. [...] The first book of the registers contains all entries from 1690 to 1813. [...] The font, near the south door, is modern, with a square bowl and a central and four angle pillars of twelfth-century style, the angle pillars being of yellow marble." The Bedhampton Parish web site, however, illustrates the same font accompanied by the following note: "As one enters the Church, the font is immediately on the right. During the 1869 Restoration of St Thomas,a Norman Bowl and Stem was found in the Rectory Garden (don't ask!) and was incorporated into the present unit, which was designed and presented by a Mr Cox of Warblington House."
