Font Notes:
There is an entry for Warblington [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SU7205/warblington/] [accessed 20 June 2018]; it mentions two churches in it. The Victoria County History (Hampshire, vol. 3, 1908) notes: "The church of St. Thomas of Canterbury [...] is a building of unusual interest, not only on account of the beautiful Purbeck marble detail of the south arcade, but also because part of the tower is of pre-Conquest date. [...] The font at the west end of the north aisle is modern, with a central and four angle shafts and a square bowl." A fire damaged the church in January 2011, but the modern font appears not to have been greatly affected [cf. a progress report in 'The Restoration of the Church of St.Thomas à Becket, Warblington' [www.warblingtonchurchrestoration.org.uk/Progress.html] [accessed 12 August 2011] . We have no information on the medieval font of the pre-Conquest church].
