There is an entry for Ibsley [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SU1509/ibsley/] [accessed 17 September 2018] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The Victoria County History (Hampshire, vol. 4, 1911) notes: "Ibsley, formerly a chapelry, [...] is now a rectory dependent on the church and served by the vicar of Fordingbridge. [...] The church of St. Martin is a small 19th-century building". There is no mention of an earlier church or a font in the VCH entry, but it notes that baptism registers and churchwardens' accounts start in the 1678 and 1689 respectively. The Southern Life web site [http://southernlife.org.uk/ibsley.htm] [accessed 5 August 2011] notes: "Built in 1654, the early Post Reformation Church of St Martin was first restored in 1832 after partially being destroyed by fire. It was deconsecrated in 1986 and fell derelict before being privately bought by its present owner who lovingly restored the ancient building in 1998, simultaneously converting it into a gallery for interior accessories whilst retaining the original altar, font and organ in the design." [NB: we have no information on the font from the mid-17th century church, nor do we know whether the earlier chapel was provided with a font].
