Font Notes:
There is an entry for [East] Wellow [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SU3020/east-wellow/] [accessed 13 September 2018] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The entry for this parish in the Victoria County History (Hampshire, vol. 4, 1911) notes: "The right of presentation to the living of East Wellow belonged in early times to the lords of the manor, and was granted about 1242 by William de Hampton to the Abbot and convent of Netley. [...] The nave dates from the early years of the 13th century, and the chancel seems to be a little later [...] The seating, fittings, &c, are largely modern, including the font, which is octagonal and of 15th-century style". The present font appears Victorian [NB: we have no information on the medieval font of the early-13th century church]
