There is an entry for Monxton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SU3144/monxton/] [accessed 30 August 2018] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The entry for this parish in the Victoria County History (Hampshire, vol. 4, 1911) notes: "Monxton Church, though not mentioned in the early grants, appears to have always followed the descent of the manor, and to have been in the patronage of the English representative of the Abbot of Bec [...] Churches like Monxton, in the gift of a Norman house, were always likely to be served by a foreigner [...] The church of St. Mary the Virgin was rebuilt in 1854 [...] the only part of the former building preserved being the 12th-century capitals of the chancel arch and perhaps a few other stones belonging to it [...] All the furniture is of modern date." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SU3119844509] reports: "The interior is entirely Victorian, except for the responds (c1200) supporting the chancel arch." [NB: we have no information on the medieval font of the original church]
