There is an entry for this Kimpton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SU2846/kimpton/] [accessed 30 August 2017], but it mentions neither priest nor church in it. The Victoria County History (Hampshire, vol. 4, 1911) notes: "Adam Spinney, lord of Kimpton, is said to have presented to the church of Kimpton in the reign of King John [i.e., 1199-1216[ [...] In 1291 the church was assessed at £ 10 [...] The chancel dates from about 1220, and the small and apparently original north door seems to be of the same date. It is possible, however, that the nave may retain the walling of an earlier building which had a narrower chancel [...] The font is modern, octagonal in plan." The modern font is located at the west end of the south aisle. [NB: we have no information on the medieval font of the original church]
