There is an entry for this Lichfield [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SK1109/lichfield/] [accessed 15 July 2019]; it reports five priests, but not a church in it, though there must have been one there. Harwood (1806) notes: "the font is very ancient". A 1824 sepia drawing of the 15th-century font by J.C. Bucklercan be found at the William Salt Library. Lewis (1848) notes that this parish church "by far the oldest in Lichfield, was rebuilt on the site of an ancient one erected by Bishop Headda, in honour of St. Chad, and near his hermitage." The Victoria County History (Stafford, 1990) dates the nave to the 12th century and informs that "In 1925 the 15th-century font was moved from its position in the nave near the south door to a baptistery formed at the west end of the south aisle at the expense of Lord Charnwood, who lived at Stowe House." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SK1220410209] notes: "Church. C12, C13 arcades and alterations to gabled south aisle, late C13 tower and east window, 1660s clerestory, 1840 lean-to north aisle, and 1862 porch, chancel roof and vestry [...] south aisle has C15 font with panelled stem and shields in quatrefoils." The Perpendicular font consists of an octagonal basin decorated with a blank shield-in-quatrefoil on each of the sides, foliage around the underbowl; raised on an octagonal pedestal base with two-up-two-down pairs of trefoiled arches/windows on the sides; moulded splaying lower base, also octagonal. [NB: we have no information on the earlier medieval font of this church]
