There is an entry for Laverstoke [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SU4948/laverstoke/] [accessed 15 August 2018]; it reports a church in it. The Victoria County History (Hampshire, vol. 4, 1911) notes: "A church existed in the parish at the time of the Domesday Survey [...] The old parish church of St. Mary the Virgin [...] became a mortuary chapel for the Portal family in 1874–5 and stands in the grounds of Laverstoke House. [...] The eastern angles of the nave have quoins of very early character, probably pre-Conquest, and parts of the north and south walls of flint rubble are of the same date." [NB: no font is mentioned in the VCH in this church]. The VCH (ibid.) entry does report a modern [Victorian] font in the new church of St. Mary.
