There is an entry for Deane [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SU5450/deane/] [accessed 15 August 2018], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The Victoria County History (Hampshire, vol. 4, 1911) notes: "The church of All Saints was built in 1818 in the Gothic style of the period [...] The first book of the registers contains baptisms and marriages from 1659 to 1785 [...] The altar, pulpit, font, &c., are all modern." The VCH (ibid.) does not give a date for the earlier church; the late date of the start of the baptismal register (1659) is normal in this area, but the church was probably medieval. [NB: the modern font is located at the west end of the nave, south side; we have no information on the font from the earlier church].
