Font Notes:
The web site of the Ayuntamiento de Urueña [www.ayto-uruena.es] informs that the present church, La Asunción, is a 16th-century re-building of an earlier medieval church. This font, however, is said to be from the former parish church of San Andrés. The font may well be of the time of the re-building, although the quasi-conical shape is a common design in Castile since the 12th or 13th century; there is a roll moulding at the upper rim, and a saltire-like motif on the side; stands on a minuscule square lower base that may or may not be related to the basin.
