Several fragments of the basin of a large baptismal font basin of roughly hemispherical shape. According to local information, the fragments of the font were found during archaeological excavations just northeast of this town; among the findings are the remains of a 10th-century monastery church, as well as a country chapel dedicated to Santiago [St. James], a necropolis of the 9th-11 centuries, as well as a stone inscription with the word "ABBATE" and the date 1158. It is possible that the font may date from that period [11th-12th century], although this basic font design has been used in Castile for over 500 years without much change.
