view of church exterior - south view

Scene Description: Source caption: "Formerly St Mary's. The one time estate church in Elvetham Park, built in 1840. Very picturesque, but these days it's not even on the redundant list. It is deconsecrated, the windows are boarded up and the interior seems to be used as a storeroom for the nearby hotel."

Font Notes:
There is an entry for Elvetham [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SU7856/elvetham/] [accessed 2 August 2018] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The National Gazetter of 1868 reports the church here as an ancient structure. The Victoria County History (Hampshire, vol. 4, 1911) notes: "The church of St. Mary [...] is said to have been 'restored' in 1840–1, but as no old stones have been left it is practically a wholly modern structure. It is of flint and stone, and is in the style of the 12th century. All its furniture and fittings are also modern". The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SU7737357099] mentions no font in it, not any thing about an earlier church here. [NB: the 1840 church appears to have been converted into a squash court, as part of The Elvetham, a luxury hotel and convention centre -- we have no information on the medieval font].
