There is an entry for Ashby [Puerorum] [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TF3271/ashby-puerorum/] [accessed 30 September 2018] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TF3280171412] notes: "Parish church. C13, C15, restored mid C19, repaired 1930 [...] C15 octagonal ashlar font." Baptismal font consisting of an octagonal basin with plain vertical sides and a graded underbowl; the sides of the basin appear to have been either scraped or badly eroded; raised on an octagonal stem and a curved polygonal [octagonal?] lower base with slightly splaying sides. The wooden cover appears modern.
