A confusing situation regarding these two churches. Sheahan (1862) writes that the Church of St. Maty Le Moor in Cadmore End, near Fingest, was built in 1851, and has a culpted font of that period in it. This church appears to have replaced a medieval (mid-13thC?) chapel at Ackhampstead, chapel that is said to have been demolished by orders of the bishop of Oxford, and Ackhampstead was then incorporated into the parish of Lewknor (Oxon.) [NB: we do not have information on whether the chapel at Ackhampstead had baptismal rights or not].
