Noted and illustrated in Sánchez López (2004): baptismal font of the 16th century in the Spanish Plateresque style consisting of a roughly hemispherical basin raised on a round pedestal base, the lower base square and buried in the ground now; on the basin sides, below a roll moulding at the upper rim, are eight shields containing among them the Instruments of the Passion, with an equal number of cherubs in between the shields [NB: this source notes that 'INRI' appears carved on the sign nailed to the top of the cross]; a row of tiny circles (?) below; the underbowl has a ribbed pattern all around, the ribs individually framed in a border; the pedestal base has four large oak-like leaves at 90-degree angles, the stems pointing down and ending in claws that hold onto a roll moulding at the very bottom of the stem; the lower base is square and partly buried in the flooring. This source notes that the font was originally located beneath the tower, but it was moved some years ago to its present location beneath the west gallery.
