There are two entries for Hardmead [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SP9347/hardmead/] [accessed 22 February 2016], one of which mentions a church in it. The Victoria County History (Buckingham, vol. 4, 1927) notes: " Evidence of the existence of a church here in the 12th century is given by the fragments of a font of that date now fixed in the wall on either side of the south doorway, but no other detail of that period survives."
